An Interview with Melanie Smithson
See Biography below

Melanie Smithson holds a masers degree in Somatic Psychotherapy and is trained in several therapy methods. In this interview she talks about EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This process was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. This method has been recommended as an effective treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association, and those of the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Ms. Smithson was first introduced to EMDR when she was involved in a car accident. A 5-minute session helped her move past the trauma of the accident. While this is not a typical session for most (most sessions take more than 5 minutes) it does speak to the effectiveness of EMDR.
