BREAKING THE HABIT OF BEING YOURSELF
Workshop with Dr. Joe Dispenza

A lot of information was packed into the 3-hour seminar Friday night and all-day workshop on Saturday. Dr. Dispenza (from What the Bleep Do We Know) explained things in a logical, understandable way. To keep the attention of a non-scientist audience, especially during a day-long seminar on quantum physics and meditation is no small feat. Especially, as he pointed out, we humans space out and lose our attention about 6-10 per minute.
Many things he said changed my thinking and gave me new ideas to ponder. One such idea was made in the following story he told:
A 16-year old girl made out with her boyfriend in between classes. She was flustered and could't remember the combination to her locker. However, her body had memorized it. Let me repeat that. Her BODY memorized the combination. Dispenza stated the body is the unconscious mind. (Think: cell memory.) The body is a mind reader. It spies on our thoughts. When our mind is flustered, spacey, or otherwise occupied, our body takes over and does what it has been trained to do.
He told another story, this time a story about a Canadian who told Dispenza that he finally turned to meditation because he didn't like his life - he was living in a hovel by the airport, in a bad relationship, no job, bad health, his hair was prematurely gray, his physical appearance was less than desirable - he wanted to change everything. The next time Dispenza saw him, he was a completely different man. The result from his meditation (and knowing how to do it correctly) was he lived in a nice home, in a healthy relationship, his health was better. Everything was better. The most amazing part of the story was because of meditation, his hair actually turned from gray back to his original brown color.
