CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS (continued)
By Ellen Hughes
...surrounding negative events, people or things, those emotions keep them ever present in your mind so you relive them, over and over, whether you want to or not. Let's take a deeper look at emotions.
Think of a buoy. It is floating on top of the water with a rope tied to the bottom of it, which is then tied to an anchor so it won't float away.
Imagine the buoy is your conscious mind. The rope represents your life experiences that have made you who you are. The anchor represents your subconscious mind that stores those experiences and has labeled them either "good" or "bad", depending on what happened. It has has also attached emotions to each experience.
When you change or release a negative emotion from your subconscious mind (which is in control, not your conscious mind), you will notice its effect on you is not as strong. The effect may even disappear. Of course, you will remember the event or person, but the thought won't upset you anymore. When you control your emotions by changing or releasing them, then you will have more energy to do things you want instead of using your energy to deal with things you would rather forget.
There are several methods to release emotions. A few of them are:
Hypnosis
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
The Work (Byron Katie)
NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming)
